From an average household Apiyo was quick to recognise the differences between her current and her former home. Having first hand knowledge about the huge AIDS problem facing Africa due to the AIDS Orphanage founded by her mother, one of her main priorities had always been the establish some form of stable support for the orphans. With the help of Rotary Club Wettingen- Heitersberg , Apiyo was able to achieve this goal.
